Behind the Scenes With Windows Azure Media Services: Case Study

Behind the Scenes With Windows Azure Media Services: Case Study | Video Breakthroughs | Scoop.it

Cloud-based streaming and production services can be a boon to any large broadcaster, providing scale, power, and features inaccessible from on-premises facilities with minimal capital expenditure (CAPEX) and maintenance expenditures. Microsoft’s IIS Media Services, long a staple in on-premises servers of many broadcasters and large enterprises, has migrated to the cloud and is now available as Windows Azure Media Services. In this article, I’ll discuss the features of the service, how it was proven during the 2012 London Olympics, and the benefits achieved by two early adopters, NBCUniversal and the European Tour (a golf event).

FORscene : world’s largest Cloud video post-production platform | Video Breakthroughs | Scoop.it

Out of all the companies with industry-standard video editing apps, only Avid has managed to release a Cloud-based version – and this only recently. How is it that Forbidden Technologies has been able to get so far ahead in this space?

Does Cloud Video Editing Make Sense for Pro Video

Does Cloud Video Editing Make Sense for Pro Video | Video Breakthroughs | Scoop.it

It's hard to talk about software in 2012 without mentioning "the cloud". You've seen the ads from sofware vendors asking what your cloud strategy is? With all this hype, it's worth taking a look at the state of cloud video editing and the promise it could hold for Professional Video Editors.

First the dream. Imagine having instant access to all of your material without having to plug in a hard drive. Even better if you could access it on any computer, from anywhere in the world, with the ability to easily collaborate with others, right? No more backups, because this would done securely, automatically, and redundantly. How about transparently using clusters of computers to instantly render video, output it into multiple formats, and deliver it as easily next door as the other side of the world. All of this without having to invest in racks of equipment or worrying about upgrades.

Sounds like a game changer right?

The Force of 4K, Cult of the Cloud: 2012 NAB Show in Review | Video Breakthroughs | Scoop.it

There were three companies at the show with viable cloud solutions for post and news: Avid, Quantel and Aframe.
