The art of getting IT

The art of getting IT | Transmedia: Storytelling for the Digital Age | Scoop.it
The Digital Rocking Chair's insight:

Simon Staffans:  "If I had a euro for every time I’ve heard someone lambaste a buyer, a producer, a commissioner or a head of programming for ”not getting it”, I would have … well, quite a few euros" ...

Insight Narrator's curator insight, December 11, 2013 8:30 AM

Couldn't agree more about the need to give direction and purpose. No longer can communicators get away with leaving the gaps for the audience to fill for themselves.  You need to answer the question, define the desired outcome and map out the journey warts and all.

Simon Staffans: Transmedia is Dead: Long Live Transmedia! | Transmedia: Storytelling for the Digital Age | Scoop.it

The word "transmedia" was hardly to be heard at MIPTV. Does this mean it's dead, or rather fully integrated in TV production?

The Digital Rocking Chair's insight:

A couple of interesting posts today on the relevance of the term "transmedia".  The first is this one from Simon Staffans, the second is by Andrea Phillips and called WTF Transmedia?  Both are worth the read.

Vanessa Camilleri's curator insight, May 8, 2013 4:21 AM

worth reading! I think we have to avoid building up too much hype on the word transmedia and focus more on what it can actually do and where it can actually lead us.

Simon Staffans:  "A couple of years ago I wrote a post on transmedia, examining a comparison that Jeff Gomez often sports; the one of likening transmedia to a symphony orchester, where you have a great number of different instruments – or media platforms – that need to be conducted in precisely the right way in order for them to create the harmonies that will make people sit up, take notice and flock to the content."
