...To think of what “might be” a few years from now is barely fathomable but really exciting! I remember listening to the keynote speaker at the 1990 Seybold Conference talk about how books in the future would be enjoyed on electronic readers, and thinking, “not in my lifetime would electronic readers replace printed books.” We all know how that turned out.
Let’s go back and hit the high points from the past ten years. Below is a visual infographic timeline followed by a more detailed look at each year! Pay close attention to the ones that were launched in 2012; some of them have a lot of potential to be game changers!

It’s about time you give some love to Google+, a social media platform set to attract more people not only because of its new dressed up interface, but also by the recent features added.
Google+ is obviously betting big on photos as it launches its ability to “auto awesome” images uploaded to it. Its mobile app came through with its refreshing updates as well. All in all, it has been a very active month for Google+ and the new wave of features is projected to increase its social networking share.
Now here’s an infographic ready to turn anyone who’s willing to make the jump an instant Google+ savvy user.

These tips and shortcuts will help you increase your effectiveness on Google+. There are many extra benefits for being on Google+. This article lists some.
You might be asking yourself why you need these tips and shortcuts since you don’t have time to be on Google+ in the first place. I mean, you’ve already got enough social sites to keep up with, right? If you have a website, and you are trying to increase your traffic, Google+ should not be the social site you let slide. The reason can be summed up in one word – Google – and that means search. If nothing else, that is the reason you need to be there.
Let me just give you one example of what I’m talking about. If you are on Google+, you can sign up for Google Authorship (if you haven’t already done this, I suggest you do it today, just follow that link). We just wrote about this last week in an article called Google Authorship & It’s Insane Impact On Website Traffic. Bottom line, you’ll get to have your avatar show up in the search results on Google, which will give you a huge bump in web traffic. Only 9% of tech blogs have taken advantage of Google Authorship, which leaves a huge opportunity for you if you haven’t implemented it.

I think there is way more value in a Google+ account than mentioned here. I have seen some VERY POOR websites rank well with the help of a Google+ account.
Interesting stats there... Google+ being more popular in the BRIC countries.. means HUGE potential, and obviously for Indian entrepreneurs, another great tool to leverage. Interestingly, I don't see that being done enough!!
And looking at where it is going, the first page results are increasingly getting hijacked by Google local listings, which is both good and bad; good that your results for local searches come with maps and all contact info in one glance, and you can rank on front page with literally no SEO; bad that it becomes hard for a site with no brick and mortar office to rank for such local search terms.

Vic Gundotra, Google’s vice president of engineering, has maintained since the beginning of Google Plus that the social network would take a ”cautious approach” to APIs.
I'm a huge fan of Google+, if only for hangouts. Now the fact that you get extra security when you sign in makes me choose this route, along with all the app services you can include if you are selling something. Don't count Google out, guys.

G+ is catching up big time for many reasons. Among these reasons is the Hangout integration.
We just facilitated a remote 1.5 day leadership development session with Hangouts and it was fantastic.
Google is sticking to their strategy and their value is starting to win people over. I was never a fan and, through valuable features, I am changing my perspective on the suite of offerings.

Facebook and Google have been seen as separate online necessities for quite some time, but it seems as though both companies are beginning to close that gap. Facebook is becoming more search oriented with the announcement of the Facebook Graph (currently in Beta testing), and Google is becoming more socially oriented as Google+ begins to have more and more of an influence of individual search results.
Although Facebook is coming from the very “social” end of the things and Google is coming from the very “search” end of things, it is clear that both are coming closer and closer together in what looks like one common goal—creating something that dominates both search AND social.
This leads many to wonder: Is this going to be a matter of who gets to the middle first, or will Google and Facebook always remain in their designated realms, unable to truly compete with the other?

Reports now show that Google+ has surpassed Twitter in active users and is second only to Facebook.
A new report by Global Web Index shows that Google+ has surpassed Twitter in active users and is second only to Facebook.
Technically YouTube was considered #3 and Twitter came in at #4 by the numbers. Although it is good to note that Twitter is actually the fastest growing of them all, with 40% growthin the last quarter.
Interesting that G+ ranks #2 with so few people actually using it as a network. Shows the power of Google that everybody feel like they have to belong to it but so many don't use it :-) Nobody wants to get left behind.
Do you believe that Google+ moved ahead of Twitter?
