Like I’ve said before, procrastination is something I really hate. I something I hate about myself and is something I hate just in general. “Procrastination strikes everyone.” This is true but I believe it has strike me the most. It has been happening to me the most the second semester of my freshman year. It annoys me so much because I want to success and feel accomplished at the end of the day. I usually start my homework late because I procrastinate half of the day on my phone and get distracted with every little thing I see. After reading this article I learned three steps that I know are going to be helpful to me in the long run. “Putting this off. Not in the right mood.” This would my phone and my music because I cannot focus on my writing while listening to music. “Too much time has passed. I rather start.” Realizing it on time is the best way to improve. “Can’t focus. Feeling guilty/cruddy about wasting time.” This should be another reason why I should start on my assignment so I can feel great and just finish everything on time and feel good that I accomplished my goal.

This Foolproof 5-Minute Exercise Will Cure Your Procrastination

This Foolproof 5-Minute Exercise Will Cure Your Procrastination | #HR #RRHH Making love and making personal #branding #leadership | Scoop.it

There's no shortage of procrastination cures out there, but few of them come with the sort of detailed instructions that make them easy to put into practice. Be kind to yourself, suggest psychologists, for instance. Which sounds nice, but if that were simple to do, most of the nation's therapists would be out of business.

Try breaking the task down into itty-bitty, totally non-threatening action steps, says another common piece of advice. That also makes a ton of sense, but we all know the human mind is hard to control. You can tell yourself you're only going to write 200 words to get started on that book project, but your brain often does an end run around your intentions, paralyzing you with visions of savage critics and blown deadlines nonetheless. Suddenly, you're looking at cat pictures yet again.

7 Ways to Stop Procrastinating and Start Getting Stuff Done

7 Ways to Stop Procrastinating and Start Getting Stuff Done | #HR #RRHH Making love and making personal #branding #leadership | Scoop.it

If you're like many of my clients prior to them seeing me, you might have a hard time getting started with projects and completing tasks. Maybe you do everything but what you need to be doing. Perhaps you watch TV instead of cleaning your house. You socialize instead of finishing a work project, or surf the Internet instead of writing that business plan you've been meaning to do for the longest time.

You essentially avoid that which you deem to be uncomfortable. It’s an adaptive response to stress, fear, and anxiety. The problem with this tactic is, by putting off an important task, it ultimately leads to more stress, greater fear, more anxiety — and of course not completing the task.

This procrastination can lead to feelings of guilt, inadequacy, and depression — all of which can kill motivation and creativity and perpetuate the unproductive cycle. Poor time management, feeling overwhelmed, unrealistic standards, or just plain laziness are a few possible reasons for procrastination.

The Challenge of Pro-Active Leadership and the Danger of Procrastination | #HR #RRHH Making love and making personal #branding #leadership | Scoop.it

Leadership is supposed to transform companies in ways so that they are better able to meet future challenges. Too often, however, leaders fail in making the right decisions when it matters, as they lack a pro-active attitude.

Are you guilty of procrastination?

“Procrastination stands for leader’s tendency to delay making important decisions while executing the less important ones.”

David De Cremer of China Europe International Business School - CEIBS discusses how and why procrastination as an individual tendency underlies the lack of pro-active leadership.

Coaches who are perfectionists tend to grow their businesses a lot slower than other coaches and may struggle to land clients. Many of them get so caught up in the weeds trying to make all their marketing material “perfect” that they lose perspective of why they’re doing any of this in the first place.

Five Pro Tips To Beat Procrastination Every Time

Five Pro Tips To Beat Procrastination Every Time | #HR #RRHH Making love and making personal #branding #leadership | Scoop.it

The pursuit of productivity in the workplace has become its own national pastime. Success is often synonymous with the ability to squeeze the maximum amount of productivity out of each day. As the renowned management consultant Peter Drucker once stated: "Nothing else distinguishes effective executives as much as their tender loving care of time."

Drucker’s philosophies and practices now infuse the institute that bears his name. According to the organization, the tools to tame and manage time have exploded into a multibillion-dollar industry. Experts and their blogs, along with books, apps, and wearables, are all geared to track and grade every hour. However, the challenge of focusing and prioritizing remains.

That’s because we humans have a penchant to procrastinate.

Franklin Covey, another time-management training and assessment provider, conducted a six-year study of over 350,000 global workers. Among the findings, respondents reported that 40% of their time was spent on nonessential things. At large companies, that translates to 832 hours wasted per person each year.

Here are the pro tips to help you push past procrastination and get back to your most productive self.
