#HR #RRHH How To Give Regular Feedback and Still Get Work Done

But if you’re already busy, feeding this appetite can feel like one more task on your list. So what should you do?

I put this question to several business leaders recently, and the short answer was this: get over it.

"Every manager should be giving feedback to everybody," says Bernard Tyson, CEO of Kaiser Permanente. "They shouldn’t have to ask. It’s how you let someone know if he’s hitting the mark and what to do to become more effective." The Millennial appetite is a huge opportunity for business. "Millennials are after feedback because they’re trying to get better at what they’re interested in doing."

It's been printed in enough management articles that it's probably implanted in your brain: Millennials want constant feedback.

I found myself in an online conversation recently with a number of friends and fellow small-business owners. The topic was the difficulty of getting good employees.

Someone had offered the story of an entrepreneur who sneered about the people who worked for him. They were all lazy, had no sense of work ethic, and were a waste of time. There was nothing to be done until the "kids" changed their attitudes. What a bunch of entitled whiners, right?

I doubt it. What a ridiculous amount of whining from someone who wouldn't do his job. Every business owner has a responsibility to help employees develop and succeed.

In the debate over how to manage Millennials, one important point gets lost: Developing younger employees takes work and that's your job.

#HR #RRHH Why Your Age Matters More Than You Think At #Work

#HR #RRHH Why Your Age Matters More Than You Think At #Work | #HR #RRHH Making love and making personal #branding #leadership | Scoop.it

For years, offices have been filled with the fresh-faced younger generation who fill the entry-level desks, the established middle who fill the management roles and the older senior executives who are near retirement. But as tech-savvy millennials enter the workforce causing Gen-X-ers and baby boomers to step out of their comfort zones, talk of the generational divide is everywhere.

Recently, national staffing company Spherion released their 2014 Emerging Workforce Study. The study of over 2,000 employees revealed that beyond different communication styles, one’s age also impacts how employees feel about their own career potential and can influence their perception of their coworkers’ and supervisors’ abilities. They found that millennials are more judgemental of the capabilities of their coworkers and more opinionated about their own career opportunities than their older workplace peers.

Your age might influence where you think your career is going and how fast you think you should get there.
