What child does not like legos or some type of building blocks? Recently there was a discussion on linked-in about this very subject and it has gotten a lot of responses. In my opinion PLAY is a necessity to child's development.....and if you haven't gotten to play with a child lately, take the time you will learn from them too! |

This infographic is great for showing how basic an infographic may be, and to help students understand what goes into creating a graph. The four key concepts, collecting data, sorting data, arranging data and presenting the data visually (so others may understand it) are true when students learn how to make graphs...and most students have played with Legos at some point so there is a quick connection. Not an app but close enough - love it.
In addition to using Lego for maths, I've taken my sons (extensive) Lego collection into History and Society & Culture to have the students (high school) demonstrate their understanding of concepts such as globalisation, communism, nationalism, capitalism. Worked really well and classes sooo happy.
Having been broken up into groups and given a concept each, They created cities or environments demonstrating the concept then talked the rest of the class through.
Fantastic ideas for using lego in mathematics. Simple hands on tasks.
