Got into a controversy over the weekend about how SEO is or isn't dead (http://scenttrail.blogspot.com/2013/11/death-of-seo-controversy.html ). Let's leave that controvery as settled and understnd that telling Google or any search engine what your branded web pages are about is and will always be important.
Having the right title, a consistent and natural bocy copy, solid H1's, H2's etc and good alt text is just common sense. Don't be fooled by all the "SEO is Dead" proclamations to think you shouldn't create solid techncial SEO.
