5 Things To Know Before Deploying Education Technology - Edudemic

5 Things To Know Before Deploying Education Technology - Edudemic | 21st Century Learning and Teaching | Scoop.it
Deploying education technology in your classroom is a big task. Here's a few things to know about before you make the leap.

Safety First

We would like to believe that everyone using your school’s wireless will be completely appropriate online. However, that is not always the case. As your school begins to move toward integrating technology into the classroom, you must create a terms of use policy. Students, and teachers, should be familiar with this policy. They should have access to the policy and be required to sign it before they are allowed Internet access.

IT Support Staff

With a large amount of wireless use, an IT support staff is inevitable. Be sure your school is equipped with IT support. Whether this is designated teachers or an entirely separate staff, make sure someone knows how to fix problems when they arise. Keep these staff well versed on all devises that will be used in the classrooms.

The Future of Instruction: Teachers and Technology

The Future of Instruction: Teachers and Technology | 21st Century Learning and Teaching | Scoop.it
Robert Slavin is the director of the Center for Research and Reform in Education at Johns Hopkins University and co-founder and chairman of the Success for All Foundation.

Think about the best teacher, the best class, the best learning experience you ever had. In that class, you were engaged. You were challenged. You were excited. You had new insights, and left the class a different person, confident in your new knowledge and skill, but even more, confident in yourself as a learner.

In educational innovation, all we have to do is to make every hour of every educational day as good as that best learning day of your life. How hard could that be?

New Study Finds 11 Real Ways Technology Is Affecting Education Right Now | Edudemic | 21st Century Learning and Teaching | Scoop.it

The amount of technology flooding into classrooms may vary widely, but there’s no denying that it’s a red-hot trend in education. A new study further bolsters this idea as it’s found that digital devices are saving students time, are widely accepted, and are actually making students more likely to do their homework.

All these factoids and more are presented in the study by CourseSmart and Wakefield Research which focused on more than 500 currently enrolled college students. It found that nearly all of the students (98%) that own a device have used it in school. 90% of these students say it saves them time, too. Here’s the rundown of what the study found according to a recent MarketWatch article (also check out the handy infographic below for even more details)...

Education in the information age: is technology making us stupid?

Education in the information age: is technology making us stupid? | 21st Century Learning and Teaching | Scoop.it
The pub argument is dead. Google killed it with a little help from your smartphone.

A recent study suggests that our modern lifestyles are making us “less intelligent” than our ancestors, at least at a genetic level. This research echoes concerns Einstein had when he supposedly said,

===> “I fear the day that technology will surpass our human interaction. The world will have a generation of idiots.” <===
