Almost three quarters of people in the EU live in fear of a cyberattack. The new European Cybercrime Centre is intended to aid prosecution and restore confidence.

The resulting financial loss suffered every year throughout the world totals approximately $388 billion. But now the European Commission has said enough is enough. A key part of its defense strategy is the European Cybercrime Centre (EC3), which is currently being set up at Europol's headquarters in The Hague and is set to open in a few weeks' time.
