From my point of view, personal devices such cell phones, tablets, ipads, among others, can be a huge risk if we allow students to use them in the classroom. However, it is also true that we as teachers should try to find useful ways to incorporate these potential resources into our lessons if we want to increase learner involvement and motivation while at the same time improving time management, teacher-student interaction, meaningful learning and real-time provision of feedback. 

All these educational factors can be simultaneously addressed if teachers take some time to do a little research on the web to find out the countless activities that digital devices allow them to perform along with your students both in and outside the classroom.

One of the most common expressions that I use to listen to nowadays is "put your cellphone away". Many teacher deal in their daily basis with students distracted by their phones and most of time they take desperate actions towards this situations which leads to a rough environment and affects the atmosphere of the classroom. In fact, one need we have in this current days is that of creating students perception towards the use of this devices which is not  a short way to walk but neither impossible. Providing the conditions and raising awareness about other possible uses into the classroom as well as raising curiosity to what is happening in the classroom will increase the possibilities of obtaining better behaviors in terms of technology. Our task then is to start thinking of strategies to implement since the very basis of the students academic life.

Im Januar 2014 wurde das Pilotprojekt „Start in die nächste Generation“ von der Behörde für Schule und Berufsbildung ausgeschrieben. Wichtige Voraussetzung für die Bewerbung an diesem Pilotprojekt war die Zustimmung der schulischen Gremien und damit der Eltern-, Schüler- und Lehrervertretung der Schule. Aus vielen Bewerbungen wurden 6 Schulen ausgewählt.vergrößern

Das Pilotprojekt hat eine Laufzeit von zwei Schuljahren. Das zentrale Ziel dieses Projektes ist es, die Chancen der digitalen Medien durch entsprechende Unterrichtskonzepte für eine Optimierung des Lernens zu nutzen und so den Lernerfolg der Schülerinnen  und Schüler zu verbessern. Im Mittelpunkt stehen die Lernenden, die ihr privates, mobiles Gerät (Notebook, Tablet, Smartphone) mit in die Schule bringen und dieses Gerät im schulischen Unterricht und auch zuhause zum Lernen nutzen.
Mit dem Pilotprojekt werden Voraussetzungen geschaffen, die die Nutzung der digitalen Medien im Unterricht jederzeit ermöglichen, wenn es unterrichtlich und für das Lernen der Schülerinnen und Schüler sinnvoll und hilfreich ist. Dafür wird ein abgesichertes, schuleigenes, drahtloses Netzwerk in der Schule genutzt. Damit wird „mobiles“ Lernen an nahezu jedem Ort – egal ob im Klassenzimmer, Fachraum, Aula, Praktikum, Exkursion oder zuhause – möglich. Gerade die Tatsache, dass die Schülerinnen und Schüler ihr eigenes Gerät, mit dem sie sicher umgehen können, auch für ihr Lernen nutzen, lässt viele positive Effekte erwarten.

During his talk at HOPE/X Jonathan Zdziarski detailed several undocumented services (with names like 'lockdownd,' 'pcapd,' 'mobile.file_relay,' and 'house_arrest') that run in the background on over 600 million iOS devices.


Zdziarski's questions for Apple include:

  • Why is there a packet sniffer running on 600 million personal iOS devices instead of moved to the developer mount?
  • Why are there undocumented services that bypass user backup encryption that dump mass amounts of personal data from the phone?
  • Why is most of my user data still not encrypted with the PIN or passphrase, enabling the invasion of my personal privacy by YOU?
  • Why is there still no mechanism to review the devices my iPhone is paired with, so I can delete ones that don’t belong?

... and his last slide (page 57 of the PDF) sums it up nicely: 


  • Apple is dishing out a lot of data behind our backs
  • It’s a violation of the customer’s trust and privacy to bypass backup encryption
  • There is no valid excuse to leak personal data or allow packet sniffing without the user’s knowledge and permission.
  • Much of this data simply should never come off the phone, even during a backup.
  • Apple has added many conveniences for enterprises that make tasty attack points for .gov and criminals
  • Overall, the otherwise great security of iOS has been compromised… by Apple… by design.

BYOD | Mobile Bots Grow 1,000% in 2013

The number of bad bots has grown exponentially in recent years, driving poor internet performance for individuals and the loss of control over connected devices; wholesale theft of online intellectual property, content and data; unnecessarily high bandwidth fees; and compromised websites that are otherwise key to mission-critical functions. In fact, bad bots almost doubled as a percentage of all web traffic over the course of 2013, from 12.25% to 23.6%. And the number of mobile bots is up a staggering 1,000%.

Le mécanisme de mise à jour d’Android souffre d’une importante faille de sécurité. Selon une étude menée à l’université de l’Indiana et chez Microsoft Research, plusieurs vulnérabilités critiques existent au sein du système de permissions gérant les nombreuses versions de l’OS mobile.


En faisant croire qu'elle avait jusque-là tous les droits, une application malveillante pourrait, après la mise à jour, accéder à toutes les données personnelles.


Présente dans toutes les versions officielles d’Android, cette faille menace potentiellement plus d’un milliard de smartphones et de tablettes.

Nach einer anfänglichen Mehrbelastung verändert sich die Lehrerrolle und Entlastung tritt ein. Lernsysteme unterstützen meine Arbeit, alle Schülerinnen und Schüler im Blick zu behalten und diagnosegeleitet individuell fordern und fördern zu können. Unterricht mit digitalen Medien unterstützt das individualisierte, selbstständige und situative Lernen, das Lern- und Arbeitsklima innerhalb der Klasse kann sich verbessern.

Meine Schüler arbeiten mit ihren eigenen Smartphones, Tablets und Notebooks im Unterricht. Diese Geräte haben sie sich ganz individuell und persönlich eingerichtet. Hierin besteht der erste Mehrwert.

Der sorglose Umgang der Mitarbeiter mit mobiler Technologie gehört laut IDC neben Malware und Phishing-Attacken zu den häufigsten Risiken beim Thema Mobile Security in Unternehmen.


Zu den größten Sicherheitsrisiken aus Sicht der IT-Verantwortlichen zählen dabei Mobile Malware mit 42 Prozent, gefolgt von Phishing und Social Engineering mit 35 Prozent. Weitere 30 Prozent gaben an, dass das Fehlverhalten von Anwendern – vorsätzlich oder unabsichtlich – ein großes Risiko darstelle. Sie planen deshalb, die Mitarbeiter stärker für das Thema Mobile Security zu sensibilisieren. 
Dies soll vor allem durch Trainings der Anwender und IT-Mitarbeiter sowie Richtlinien zur sicheren Nutzung mobiler Endgeräte geschehen - wobei hier die Wünsche der IT-Verantwortlichen und der User teils sehr unterschiedlich sind.
